மு.வரதராசன் விளக்கம்:

பெற்ற தாயின் பசியைக் கண்டு வருந்த நேர்ந்தாலும், சான்றோர் பழிப்பதற்குக் காரணமான இழிவுற்றச் செயல்களைச் செய்யக்கூடாது.

Couplet Explanation (M. Varadarasan's explanation):

Though a minister may see his mother starve; let him do not act which the wise would (treat with contempt).

பொன்மொழி :


1) நம்பிக்கை உள்ள இடத்தில்தான் வெற்றியும் இருக்கும்

2) மனநிறைவு என்பது இயற்கையான செல்வம், ஆடம்பரம் என்பது செயற்கையான வறுமை.


பழமொழி :

              வினை விதைத்தவன் வினை அறுப்பான்
