மு.வரதராசன் விளக்கம்:

பழியை மேற்கொண்டு இழிதொழில் செய்து பெறும் செல்வத்தை விடச் சான்றோர் வினைத்தூய்மையோடிருந்து பெறும் பொல்லாத வறுமையே சிறந்தது.

Couplet Explanation (M. Varadarasan's explanation):

Far more excellent is the extreme poverty of the wise than wealth obtained by heaping up of sinful deeds.

பொன்மொழி :


1) கல்வி என்பது தகவல்களை சேகரிப்பதல்ல, அது சிந்ததிப்பதற்காக மூளையை பயிற்றுவிப்பது.
